The AMA has met with Ahpra and the Medical Board to try and ensure doctors’ respectful social media comments advocating peace and protection in warzones are not penalised.
AMA President Professor Steve Robson has made it clear in media interviews this week that any doctors making respectful statements on social media advocating for peace and the protection of healthcare workers in war zones should feel confident that they will not be reprimanded by the regulator and Ahpra has reassured the AMA that comments of this nature would not prompt an investigation or warrant any form of regulatory action.
Ahpra also stated publicly that none of the notifications it has received to date have required formal investigation.
The AMA has a to help ensure you can enjoy using social media while maintaining the standards of ethical and professional conduct expected of doctors by the profession and wider community.
