The last sentence of Clause 7b of the 2024 Junior World Championships Team Selection Criteria has been amended (effective 24 June) and now reads:
“…The Performance Window for the 2024 JWCH shall be from 1 August 2023 until the end of any SA Endorsed Event competitions on 18th August 2024.”
This amendment ENABLES:
Clarity on when the Performance Window ends;
All athletes regardless of discipline to have the same amount of time in which to improve their APS; and
Additional opportunities for young athletes, who are improving, to raise their APS through participation in additional Shooting Australia Endorsed Events and specifically
- MISC Grand Prix Pistol and Rifle 16-18th August.
- Cecil Park Grand Prix Shotgun 3-4th August.
This amendment WILL NOT
Change the ranking of athletes on the Junior World Championships Team.
Selection events as identified in the selection criteria have now concluded for rifle and shotgun. There are still two selection events for pistol; namely Sydney Cup 2 in June and PSQ State Titles in August.
It should be noted that the selection criteria is very clear that to be selected to the Junior World Championships team, an athlete “…must have achieved an APS that meets or exceeds the MPS for the relevant event…”
The 2024 Junior World Championships team will be selected after 18 August, and announced shortly thereafter.
