Victorians are paying the price for Labor’s budget incompetence and $24 billion of waste.
The Andrews Labor Government has today delivered another crushing blow to Victorians looking to buy a new family home with yet another new housing tax.
The Property Council has calculated that Labor’s latest 1.75 per cent levy will result in a cost increase that equates to an extra $19,600 on the median price of a new house in metropolitan Melbourne and $12,110 on the median price of a new unit. This also means:
- an extra tax bill of $9,362 on the median house price in Wyndham in Melbourne’s west;
- a $21,525 increase in Burwood in Melbourne’s east; and
- $11,725 in Armstrong Creek in Geelong’s growing southern suburbs.
Shadow Treasurer, David Davis said “Labor are addicted to new taxes. This is the 41st new or increased tax or charge since they were elected,”
“New homebuyers are paying the price of Labor’s incompetence and waste. The Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s position is clear. No new taxes.”
