Anne Frank exhibition comes to Bairnsdale – East Gippsland

Anne Frank Travelling Exhibition Invitation September - November 2019-page-001.jpg

Immerse yourself in the world of Anne Frank at the Bairnsdale Library.

East Gippsland Shire Council will host the travelling exhibition Anne Frank – Let me be Myself from September 27 to November 3.

Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who together with her family went into hiding during the Second World War to escape the Nazis. The family was betrayed and deported to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp where Anne fell ill and died. Her father was the only survivor and had Anne’s diary published, striking a chord around the world.

Council’s Library Program Team Leader Kylie Pinkerton said that this exhibition will be great for all ages.

“People who have read Anne Frank’s Diary or just have an interest in the subject will enjoy this exhibition,” Kylie said.

“This exhibition uses large pictures and text to show people the story of Anne Frank and the world she grew up in. The exhibition is the only one of its kind in East Gippsland, so don’t miss it!”

The exhibition launch will be held on Friday, October 4 at 2.30pm. All welcome.

The Bairnsdale Library is open Monday to Friday 9.30am to 6pm or Saturdays 9.30am to 12pm. Entry to this exhibition is free, but gold coin donations are welcome.

Anne Frank – Let me be Myself, which had its world-wide launch in Canberra in 2014, is on loan to East Gippsland from Anne Frank Exhibition Australia.
