The Opposition energy spokesman’s ill-informed attack following TasNetworks cost update on the North-West Transmission Development (NTWD) again shows Labor stands for nothing.
The NTWD is a significant, complex, and expensive project, which is why the Rockliff Liberal Government is ensuring it is properly planned and undertaken in a careful, considered manner will mean Tasmania continues to have the lowest power prices in the nation.
Minister for Energy and Renewables, Nick Duigan, said the Opposition’s reckless call for the project “to be built in its entirety without delay” would result in massive increases in power bills.
“Make no mistake: we will deliver the energy infrastructure Tasmania needs without – as the Opposition would do – putting power prices through the roof,” Minister Duigan said.
“The Opposition continues to display a dangerous disregard for hard-working Tasmanians who would pay dearly under Labor.
“The Rockliff Liberal Government will continue to deliver on its long-term plan to ensure Tasmania has the clean, renewable, affordable energy we need now and into the future.”
