A man will face court today charged over his alleged role in the murder of a father and son at Guildford in 2021.
Just before 9am on Wednesday 20 October 2021, emergency services were called to Osgood Street near Woodville Road in Guildford, following reports of a shooting.
On arrival, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command located two men – aged 18 and 64 – inside a vehicle suffering gunshot wounds.
The younger man died at the scene, while the older man was taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Westmead Hospital, where he later died.
The men were formally identified as father and son, Toufik and Salim Hamze.
Detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Ormerod to investigate the murders.
Three men – aged 20, 25 and 18 – have previously been charged over their alleged roles in the incident; they remain before the courts.
Following further extensive inquiries, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at an address on Inkerman Street, Granville, about 6am today (Wednesday 17 May 2023), where they arrested a 23-year-old man.
Police also seized a car and other items relevant to the investigation, which will undergo forensic examination.
The man was taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder, two counts of receive property-theft=serious indictable offence > $5000 and participate criminal group contribute criminal.
He was refused bail to appear in front of Parramatta Local Court today.
