Police have released images as inquiries continue to identify a man and woman following the alleged assault of a police officer in Surry Hills last month.
About 8.15pm on Saturday 25 February 2023, an officer – performing duties as part of Operation World Pride 2023 – was allegedly approached by man on Flinders Street near the intersection of Albion Street, Surry Hills, before he was repeatedly punched in the head.
The male sergeant suffered facial bruising and lacerations before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.
Officers attached to Surry Hills Police Area Command commenced an investigation.
As inquiries continue, detectives have released images of a man and woman who may be able to assist with the investigation.
The man partially depicted is described as being of Indian/Sub Continental appearance, aged in his 30s, between 190cm and 195cm tall, of thin build, with short dark hair and thin manicured beard.
He is shown wearing shorts and a sleeveless brown singlet.
The woman depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in her 30s, of medium build, with blonde shoulder length hair which is shaved on the right side and a tattoo on her inner left forearm.
She is shown wearing a pink singlet with tassels, blue denim shorts, white sneakers and carrying a white plastic bag.
