Police are appealing for public assistance following a single-vehicle crash near Taree at the weekend.
About 9.30am on Sunday (17 October 2021), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway north of Old Bar Road, near Taree, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Police were told a vehicle travelling north left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The two male occupants of the vehicle – both aged 44 – were freed by emergency services.
They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to John Hunter Hospital in serious conditions, where they remain.
Officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District established a crime scene and an investigation was commenced by officers from the Hunter Crash Investigation Unit.
