Appeal after graffiti damage in Sydney and Jindabyne

Police are appealing for public assistance following graffiti related incidents across the Sydney and Jindabyne areas in August and September.

Officers attached to the North/Central Transport Action Group commenced an investigation under Strike Force McCarten into vandalism on the public transport network.

Incidents of note include:

  • Between 6pm and 7pm on Thursday 6 August 2020, a male spray painted a train carriage at Newtown Railway Station using the tag “DANCE”.
  • Between 4am and 5:30am on Thursday 13 August 2020, a male spray painted a train carriage at Normanhurst Railway Station and tagged “DANCE”.
  • Overnight on Thursday 20 August 2020 and Friday 21 August 2020, a male has tagged “HIPHOP” on a wall in Lee Street, Jindabyne.
  • Between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday 2 September 2020, a male has spray painted a train carriage at Newtown Railway Station using the tag “HIPHOP.”

These tags also contained an additional tag of “C2G.”

As investigations continue, police have released CCTV of a man they would like to speak to.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance and aged in his early 20’s. He is depicted wearing a black vest, white shirt and black coloured face covering.
