Investigators are appealing for information after a single shot was allegedly fired in Sydney’s west yesterday.
About 4.30pm (Sunday 13 August 2023), officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were called to Stanley Street, Fairfield Heights, following reports a shot was fired from a parked car.
At the scene, police were told a 20-year-old man approached a vehicle when a firearm was produced, and a single shot fired before it passed through the front door of a nearby home and into an internal wall.
The man was not injured and ran from the scene as an individual exited the vehicle allegedly running after him.
A short time later the vehicle drove from the scene.
Initial inquiries have led police to believe the incident was targeted.
A single occupant of the home was uninjured.
Shortly after 5pm a silver Mercedes sedan, which had been reported stolen in July this year, was found alight in Chowne Place at Yennora.
Officers from Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze, and the vehicle was towed for further examination to determine if the incidents are linked.
Crime scenes were established at both locations and inquiries commenced by detectives attached to Fairfield City PAC.
Police have spoken with the 20-year-old male who is not assisting police.
Detectives have also spoken with a number of people at the scene and have conducted a canvass of the neighbourhood.
