Mosman residents are being urged to give generously to those in need this Christmas in support of disadvantaged children across northern Sydney.
Mosman Council’s annual gift appeal is running until 11 December, with people invited to place new, unwrapped gifts under the Christmas tree in the Civic Centre foyer.
Gifts for children and teenagers, including toys, books, puzzles, science kits, sporting gear, beach towels, personal accessories and toiletries, will be distributed by The Salvation Army.
Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan said despite a slower than usual start to the appeal, it was hoped donations would increase during early December.
“We know many people are facing growing cost of living pressures, which may be affecting the ability of some to contribute this year,” she said.
“This also means that donations from those who are able to give are more important than ever.
“An item from the appeal may be one of the only gifts a child receives this Christmas.
“Even a small contribution has the potential to bring a great amount of joy and happiness to a young person this festive season.
“Thank you to everyone who has given so generously.”
