The family of Ian Lees, whose remains were found in Williamstown in July 2022 is asking members of the public to come forward if they have any information.
The avid Port Adelaide Football Club supporter was reported missing on 4 March 2022 – he was last seen on 1 March in Fairleigh Avenue, Modbury North.
Ian’s niece Grace said her uncle was mourned by hundreds of people at his recent funeral.
“Uncle Ian meant so much to us. He always made everyone laugh as kids we were in awe of him, just a fun loving nature, he was a great uncle,” Grace said.
“As a family unit we are really missing Ian Lees and we would really appreciate if anyone has any information at all could come forward to the police and help us solve what has happened to our uncle.”
Detective Inspector Brett Featherby of the Major Crime Investigation Branch said Ian was known to frequent the Modbury North area walking his blue heeler dog ‘Jasper’.
“Major Crime Detectives have received a number of calls to Crime Stoppers, however we are seeking one person who provided information through the Crime Stoppers website on 28th July to contact police again. We believe that this person may have information that could be critical to the investigation of Ian’s murder”, Detective Inspector Featherby said.
Police also wish to speak to a person seen searching the reserve with a torch at the northern end Fairleigh Avenue at Modbury North in the early hours on 2 March 2022.
“Ian had a large group of friends and Major Crime wish to so speak with any of his friends that have knowledge of what was happening in his life prior to his disappearance or whether he was in conflict with anybody” Detective Inspector Featherby said.
Police are also looking for any information about people acting suspiciously around Warren Road, Williamstown in the vicinity of Hale Conservation Park between 3.00am on 1 March 2022 and 7 March 2022 where he was located.
