Build a city of the future while building your resume as an apprentice or trainee at Townsville City Council in 2024.
Apprenticeships and traineeships are available for up to 27 applicants to join Council’s current cohort of apprentices and trainees to get a head start in their chosen career through a combination of practical work and structured training, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
Mayor Jenny Hill said the apprentice and trainee program would help grow Townsville’s workforce by creating dozens of new jobs for the city.
“Council is one of the Townsville’s largest employers and has a social responsibility to train the next generation of qualified employees. Townsville is growing into a leading centre of education and training which is supported by Council’s apprentice and trainee program,” Cr Hill said.
“Through joining Council, apprentices and trainees can work in areas like electrical and instrumentation, animal care and business. There is real diversity across Council’s areas of expertise, which is what makes it the perfect place to get hands on experience with your trade or complete a traineeship.
“Once our apprentices and trainees finish their training, they will be able to work anywhere across Townsville with their nationally recognised qualification, strengthening our city’s workforce into the future.”
Applications to join Council’s apprentice and trainee program for 2024 are open now and close on Friday 4 August.
