Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in the Territory enrolled in the first year of an undergraduate health course can now apply for the 2024 NT Health Aboriginal Scholarship Scheme.
The scholarship, worth up to $5000, provides assistance to support students through their studies.
The scholarship is a key initiative to support and develop future Aboriginal clinical and health practitioners for the NT.
The Territory Labor Government is increasing Aboriginal representation within the NT Health workforce which will contribute to providing culturally safe care and services.
An Aboriginal health workforce ensures policies and practices are delivered in a way that is culturally responsive, accessible, and equitable for all Territorians.
Since the scholarship commenced, 15 Aboriginal students have been supported through their studies with five scholarships awarded last year.
Applications are open from Monday, 5 February, 2024 until 4pm on Friday, 1 March, 2024.
