Apply now for 2020 Rural Women’s Award

Emerging female leaders passionate about making change in regional South Australia are being encouraged to apply for the 2020 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Awards with nominations closing at the end of October.

The national award acknowledges and supports the essential role women play in rural industries, businesses and communities with state and territory winners receiving a $10,000 bursary towards a chosen project.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone encouraged South Australia’s female leaders to apply.

“South Australia has many talented leaders and wonderful role models and it is important we continue to encourage our emerging leaders to be recognised,” said Minister Whetstone.

“The Rural Women’s Award supports the prosperity of rural industries and communities, and the development of female leaders.

“The award provides a platform to inspire and support women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities.

“It is vital to the industry’s continued success that greater Australia understands the role of primary producers in both the national economy and the social fabric of our regional communities.

“The Marshall Liberal Government is proud to be supporting this program and I encourage any woman who is passionate about our rural industries and communities to apply for the award and take their next step to make a difference in their own careers and in their communities.”

The 2019 South Australian finalist Deanna Lush strongly encouraged rural women to apply for the award.

“The award process is a fantastic opportunity to pursue an idea you’re passionate about, broaden your networks and increase your skills and knowledge,” said Ms Lush.

“If you have a vision to make a difference in your state or community, then the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award is definitely for you.”
