Appointment of new Secretary to Department of Customer Service

Premier Gladys Berejiklian today announced Glenn King will be leaving the NSW public sector after seven years of leadership serving the people of NSW.

Most recently, Mr King served as the Secretary of the Department of Customer Service and has led a range of sector-wide reforms.

“Since April 2019, Glenn has successfully delivered on the NSW Government’s commitment to put customers at the centre of service delivery and simplifying how citizens interact with government,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of NSW I thank Glenn for his dedicated service and extensive achievements, and wish him every success in his future plans.”

Mr King also served as the Deputy Secretary of the Premier’s Implementation Unit and the Customer Service Commissioner within the Department of Premier and Cabinet. He played a critical role in delivering the Premier’s Priorities, Cost of Living Service, Container Deposit Scheme and Active Kids Rebate.

Ms Berejiklian also announced Emma Hogan has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Customer Service.

“Emma brings a wealth of experience in people and customer service, having worked in senior executive roles across major private sector organisations including Foxtel, Woolworths and Qantas – and is highly qualified to lead the Department of Customer Service,” Ms Berejiklian said.

Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello thanked Mr King for his service to the people of NSW and congratulated Ms Hogan on her appointment.

“Glenn has done a great job laying the foundations for us to succeed in transforming customer service in NSW and I have no doubt Emma will continue to pave the way for us to deliver innovative services that will benefit everyone in NSW,” Mr Dominello said.

“Emma has transformed the culture of the public service over the past 18 months in her role as the NSW Public Service Commissioner, and will continue to drive this in her new position.”

A new NSW Public Service Commissioner will be announced in due course.
