Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan today announced that Gail Reynolds-Adamson will continue as chairperson of the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission (GEDC) board for a further 12 months.
A GEDC board member since August 2014, Ms Reynolds-Adamson brings to the role expertise in small business and experience in advocating for regional issues and opportunities.
This appointment will take her to the end of her six-year tenure on the GEDC board.
Ms Reynolds-Adamson is currently chairperson of the Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation and the South East Aboriginal Health Service, and was recently appointed to the board of Horizon Power.
The Minister has also appointed current board member and local business owner Kate Mills to the role of deputy chairperson for the next two years, and appointed two new board members: Shaneane Weldon and Ross Wood.
Mr Wood is the co-ordinator of the Kalgoorlie Pastoral Alliance and the former CEO of the Goldfields Nullarbor Rangelands Biosecurity Association. Ms Weldon is currently the Deputy Shire President of the Shire of Laverton and chairperson of the Pakaanu Aboriginal Corporation.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:
“Over the past 12 months, Gail’s leadership has seen the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission drive Aboriginal economic development and deliver workforce development initiatives – her reappointment will see that fantastic work continue.
“Kate has been a valuable addition to the GEDC board since her appointment last year and is committed to delivering strong regional development outcomes.
“Ross Wood’s appointment will help the GEDC to focus on driving opportunities in the pastoral sector, working to revive the historic and important sheep industry in the Goldfields.
“Bringing Shaneane Weldon onto the board will provide renewed focus on economic opportunity in the northern Goldfields.”
