Architect appointed for Collie Hospital stage two redevelopment

  • $12.2 million stage two redevelopment of Collie Hospital progressing with the appointment of an architect
  • Funding to deliver McGowan Government election commitment
  • The second stage of the Collie Hospital redevelopment is moving ahead with the appointment of award-winning architectural firm, Peter Hunt Architect.

Peter Hunt Architect is responsible for designing a number of successful regional health facilities throughout the State including the Albany Health Campus and refurbishments to the Merredin Health Campus and Kalgoorlie, Esperance and Katanning hospitals.

The $12.2 million stage two redevelopment will include an upgrade to the operating theatre to incorporate state-of-the-art facilities.

Consultative and advisory bodies have also been appointed and are meeting regularly to assist with planning for the redevelopment.

This project builds upon the $7.8 million refurbishment of Collie Health Service completed in 2017, which included upgrades to administration, the main entry and the emergency department.

The upgrades and construction are part of a $1.5 billion infrastructure modernisation program being delivered by the WA Country Health Service to improve health services across regional Western Australia.

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

“The Collie Hospital redevelopment will strengthen quality healthcare for residents in Collie and surrounding communities.

“The redevelopment reinforces the McGowan Government’s pledge to put patients first.”

As stated by Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray:

“The $12.2 million upgrades to Collie Hospital will provide a boost to small businesses and jobs in the area.

“The upgraded theatre facilities will benefit both patients and staff and ensure Collie Hospital continues to provide the highest level of care close to home.

“This second stage of the Collie Hospital redevelopment will fulfil the State Government’s election commitment to provide Collie Hospital with a full $20 million upgrade.”
