Architect appointed to $1 million project at Kewdale Primary School

  • Armstrong Collective to lead the design of assembly area at Kewdale Primary School
  • $1 million upgrade to assembly area will include specialist sports flooring
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced that Fremantle-based architectural firm Armstrong Collective has been selected to design the upgraded assembly area at Kewdale Primary School.

The $1 million project includes fitting out the covered assembly area with specialist sports flooring for physical education classes and technology for future audio visual systems.

Verandahs will also be added to the two open sides of the existing covered assembly area.

To provide students with protection from the weather, a roof will be built over the playground as part of the works.

Completion of this project, which is a McGowan Government election commitment, is due in late 2024.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“The McGowan Government is committed to upgrading facilities at schools across Western Australia and this project to update technology and expand space will provide excellent additional opportunities for learning and school community events.

“Students, staff and parents will no doubt enjoy using the fresh, modern assembly area for physical education lessons, school assemblies and other activities.”

As stated by Belmont MLA Cassie Rowe:

“This project will give Kewdale Primary School staff and students a purpose-built space to play sports and hold assemblies that can be used all year round.

“We have fantastic public schools in our local area and I can’t wait to see this latest upgrade start to take shape.”
