Australind Senior High School in the State’s South-West is set for a $15 million upgrade, to cater for the growing numbers of students.
Kent Lyon Architect has been appointed to design the new and improved facilities. The project will include a new classroom building, specialist facilities with workshops and a cutting edge STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) classroom.
This project will also include relocation of a dental therapy centre from the secondary school to a local primary school to better serve the community.
In 2020, Australind Senior High School had 1,424 students from Year 7 to Year 12, up from 1,399 students in 2019.
This project is part of the McGowan Government’s Recovery Program investing $492.2 million for upgrades and refurbishments at public schools around Western Australia.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“Australind Senior High School has a proud tradition of providing high quality education to South-West students and this major upgrade will serve the school community well for the future.
“The major school upgrade is part of the State Government’s commitment to enhance facilities at 63 public schools around Western Australia.”
As stated by Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray:
“Australind Senior High School serves a wide catchment area and has an ever-increasing number of students enrolled so this upgrade is vital to providing for families in the area.
“The new facilities will ensure the students can learn in a more comfortable and suitable environment as the school continues to grow.”
