The $26 million Wattleup East Primary School (planning name) will be designed in stages, with construction anticipated to commence late in 2022. It is expected to open its doors in time for the 2024 school year.

The brand new school will accommodate 430 students in Kindergarten to Year 6 and have administration and early childhood teaching blocks, general learning areas, an inclusive education room and specialist rooms for art and science.

The design will also include a library, covered assembly area, music room, oval and hard courts.

Rooftop solar panels will be installed on the building and space has been set aside on the site for a future Educare facility to be run by a third party.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“Hammond Park is a growing suburb and popular with young families who will be pleased to hear that a new primary school will be ready for the 2024 school year.

“This new school will relieve some of the enrolment pressure on other primary schools and provide high-quality education options for families close to home.”

As stated by Kwinana MLA Roger Cook:

“All parents want a quality education for their children at a well-resourced and modern educational setting in their local community.

“I know that Wattleup East Primary School will meet the needs of local residents and be a welcome addition to the Hammond Park area when it opens in 2024.”
