Armadale Detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident last night, Thursday 12 September 2019, in which the driver of a stolen vehicle attempted to evade police.
Yesterday afternoon a burglary occurred at a residence in Explorer Drive, Thornlie. During the burglary a white Mitsubishi Pajero was stolen.
About 10:30pm last night the stolen vehicle was sighted by Police on Gribble Avenue, Armadale. An attempt to stop the vehicle was conducted, however it will be alleged the driver failed to stop and attempted to evade officers through several streets.
Several police vehicles and a police helicopter were deployed to the area. Once the police helicopter was above the vehicle of interest, officers on the ground backed away and allowed Police Air Wing to monitor the vehicle safely from the air.
A stinger device was successfully deployed and the vehicle was abandoned a short time later in Cullen Court, Camillo. The driver fled on foot and was arrested a short distance away from the vehicle.
A 45-year-old man from Camillo has been charged with:
– ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Burglary and Commit
– Steal Motor Vehicle
– Reckless Driving to Escape Police
– Fail to Stop
– No Authority to Drive
– Possess a Prohibited Drug (Cannabis)
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court today, Friday 13 September 2019.
The investigation is ongoing to determine whether this incident is linked to several other burglaries in the Thornlie area around the same time.
