Arrest after car stolen at Tranmere, South Australia

A man has been arrested after he stole a car at Tranmere last night.

Police will allege that about 11.50pm on Sunday 6 January, an Uber driver had stopped on Magill Road after dropping off a passenger, when he was approached by another man who assaulted him and stole his car, with the victim’s mobile phone still inside the vehicle.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Royal Adelaide hospital for treatment.

Police were able to use the ‘Find my iPhone’ app to track the car out to a hotel car park at Elizabeth where the suspect was arrested just after 1am on Monday 7 January.

The 33-year-old man of no fixed address was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for assessment, and he is expected to be charged with numerous offences including aggravated robbery and illegal use of a motor vehicle, and will be refused bail to appear in court later today.
