Arrest – Aggravated assault – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 13-year-old male in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday.

Around 5.30pm, police received reports that an employee at an accommodation provider on Gap Road had allegedly been assaulted by a male youth.

The offender had allegedly thrown a rock at a vehicle, causing minor damage. When an employee attempted to deescalate the situation, the offender assaulted the employee causing minor injuries to their face, which did not require medical treatment.

The offender proceeded to allegedly cause further damage to the vehicle.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested the youth without incident. He was conveyed to the Alice Springs Watch house and has been charged with Assault worker and Damage property. He was remanded in custody to appear in court later today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said, “This type of deplorable behaviour is completely unacceptable in our community, and police will continue to work to ensure such offenders are held accountable for their actions.

“We continue to urge everyone to immediately report crime and antisocial behaviour to police on 131 444 or in an emergency to call triple zero.”
