Police have charged a man in relation to a number of attempted car thefts on the Gold Coast on Saturday, April 6.
Between 4.13pm and 4.45pm on April 6, it is alleged there were five separate attempts to steal cars at Southport, Main Beach and Surfers Paradise.
During each incident attempts were made to forcibly remove the drivers from their vehicles.
In all instances, the offenders involved left the scene in a Toyota Hilux reported stolen from Cleveland on Thursday, April 4, and later found abandoned in Mount Cotton on the evening of Saturday, April 6.
Last night, April 15, police arrested an 18-year-old man from Capalaba in connection with these incidents.
He has been charged with five counts of attempted robbery while armed, one count of fraud relating to an alleged petrol drive-off and disguising his face with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He was denied police bail and is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court today, April 16.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Anyone with dashcam footage from these areas on April 6 or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity is urged to come forward.
