Mandurah Detectives have charged a man with 12 offences as a result of their investigation into his activities.
It is alleged around 12.40pm on 20 November 2020, the man was involved in an evade police incident whilst driving a Subaru Forrester station sedan through the Meadow Springs, San Remo and Mandurah areas. It is further alleged during this incident he deliberately tried to hit a police officer with his vehicle.
Between 11am and 1.30pm on Thursday 26 November 2020, it is alleged the man forced entry into a home at a property in Dixvale where he stole a shotgun, a rifle, jewellery and other personal items. It will also be alleged about 6.30pm on the same day the man was sighted by police driving the Subaru Forrester on South Western Highway in Kirup. It is alleged the man failed to stop for police and drove off.
The vehicle drove over a tyre deflation device and he abandoned the vehicle on the Cundinup-Kirup Road in Kirup and fled on foot into bush carrying the shotgun.
It will be further alleged the man pointed the shotgun at several officers on multiple occasions as he attempted to escape police who were pursuing him on foot. The firearm was wrestled from the hands of the man by a police officer and the weapon discharged. No-one was injured.
Police conducted a search of the Subaru Forrester and it is alleged during the search police located the stolen rifle under the rear passenger seat and an amount of jewellery.
The 31-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with:-
• 3 x Endanger Life, Health or Safety of a Person;
• 2 x Fail to Comply with a Direction to Stop (Circumstances of Aggravation);
• 2 x Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police;
• 2 x Possess Unlicensed Firearm;
• 1 x ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Burglary and Commit;
• 1 x Stealing; and
• 1 x Being Armed in a way that may cause Fear.
He is due to appear before the Bunbury Magistrates Court today, 27 November 2020.
