Police have arrested a man in relation to an alleged motorcycle theft in St Albans last night (10 March).
Brimbank Highway Patrol spotted an allegedly stolen motorcycle driving erratically on Station Road, Kings Park about 10.20pm.
When police attempted to intercept the motorcycle it drove off.
It was located a short time after on Gillespie Road, Kings Park and a man was observed fleeing the scene.
Police with assistance from the K9 unit took chase on foot and the man was arrested about 11.30pm on McCrae Avenue in St Albans.
The 27-year-old Port Melbourne man was bitten on the head, neck and arm by the police dog during his arrest and was taken to hospital under police guard with non-life threatening injuries.
The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
He is expected to be charged with theft, driving whilst disqualified, evade police and other traffic related matters.
