Two men have been arrested after allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his car at Salisbury Heights last night.
About 11.55pm on Thursday 17 December, a man drove in and parked his Toyota sedan in the car park of a hotel on Main North Road. While still sitting in the car, the man was approached by two unknown men.
One man has opened the front passenger side door and sat in the victim’s car before asking for his wallet and phone, and then taken the keys from the ignition barrel.
The second man stood by the driver’s door and allegedly punched the victim in the face.
The victim got out of the car and alerted hotel staff who notified police of the robbery.
Police attended and reviewed CCTV which showed the two suspects arrive at the hotel in a white Holden sedan just prior to the victim’s arrival.
The victim’s car was last seen travelling south on Main North Road in company with the white Holden sedan.
Investigations led Northern District police to Elizabeth Downs where they conducted a traffic stop with the white Holden sedan on Marcian Avenue. Two men in the car were subsequently arrested over the robbery.
Property belonging to the victim was located in the car.
A 29-year-old man from Blakeview and a 37-year-old man from Pennington were both charged with aggravated robbery. They have been refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
The victim’s car, a silver 1989 Toyota sedan with SA registration UVJ-467, is yet to be found and anyone who sees the stolen car is urged to contact 131 444.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
