Arrests – Stolen motor vehicle – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths in relation to a stolen motor vehicle in Alice Springs yesterday.

Between 8am and 10am, an unknown number of offenders allegedly unlawfully entered a residence in Gillen. The offenders stole a set of keys to a Ford Focus at the property, stolen the vehicle, and rammed through the driveway gate to flee the scene. Substantial damage was caused to the gate of the residence.

Around 3.20pm, off-duty police officers reported witnessing three youths abandoning the vehicle on Palm Circuit. Members from Strike Force Viper, Crime, the Dog Operations Unit, and a Point of Sale Intervention Sergeant were deployed to the area, where they located the three offenders hiding in nearby scrubland.

The three offenders aged 13, 14 and 15 years-old were arrested without incident.

The 13-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act (2005).

The 14-year-old and the 15-year-old have been charged with Use motor vehicle without consent. The two youths were remanded to face court today.
