Artie Smith Oval upgrade has won the Excellence in Social & Community Infrastructure (Public Domain) category at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Awards.
This recognition underscores its status as a premium facility with a successful design philosophy, capable of hosting state, regional and local sporting events while balancing the needs of local clubs, community groups and tourism, creating a versatile and attractive open space for the region.
“The recognition from the UDIA highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional community infrastructure. Artie Smith Oval is not just a sports facility; it’s a vibrant hub that brings people together and fosters a strong sense of community,” said Director of City Lifestyles, Jane Lewis.

The Excellence in Social & Community Infrastructure category celebrates leadership and innovation in delivering services and social infrastructure developments, such as civic and community buildings, schools, and hospitals.
Receiving this award signifies that the facility is of high quality and successfully meets the needs of the local community while also attracting significant events to the Shoalhaven.
Facilities at Artie Smith Oval include an AFL and cricket field with a pavilion clubhouse equipped with modern amenities, cricket practice facilities designed to foster skill development and four croquet courts complemented by a clubhouse and amenities.
The open space is enhanced with play and exercise equipment, landscaping, pathways and stylish seating furniture.
