NSW Gov

Nine talented arts and screen professionals with disability have been selected to intern with some of the sector’s leading organisations for the NSW Government’s Createability Internship Program.

Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said the internships provide exciting career pathways and development opportunities in the arts, culture and screen industry, highlighting the interns’ skills and strengths.

“The 2023 Createability Internship Program has selected a high calibre of talented and passionate interns, bursting with enthusiasm to share their skills,” Mr Franklin said.

“In previous years the program has proven to be a rewarding and life-changing opportunity for interns and host organisations alike, with many internships leading to on-going employment and other long-term positive outcomes.

“This initiative shines a spotlight on access and inclusion in the arts, culture and screen sector, and aims to remove the barriers to employment, training and support for people with disability.”

The internship is a three-year commitment delivered through Create NSW and Screen NSW, in partnership with Accessible Arts and various NSW-based arts, screen and cultural organisations to grow pathways to employment for practitioners with disability.

Accessible Arts interim CEO, Liz Martin said the program is transforming lives and changing the way many organisations in the arts, screen and cultural sector embrace access and inclusion.

“Accessible Arts is delighted to partner with the NSW Government to deliver the Createability initiative, providing training to the interns and host organisations as they embark on their respective professional placements,” Ms Martin said.

The successful interns are Renee Allara (Cementa), Sarah Armstrong (Sydney Opera House), Joshua Kok (Australian Chamber Orchestra), Kristi Archer (Sydney Theatre Company),Hansel Ajuyah (Animal Logic), Samantha Tindall (ABC Children’s Originals team), Karen Stingemore (ABC Compass Researcher), Nicole Delprado (Industrial Light & Magic), Meret Hassanen (Endemol Shine Australia).
