Hobsons Bay City Council’s Arts at Your Doorstep returns this year with three exceptional high-quality performances at its cultural venues from May to September.
Mayor of Hobsons Bay Cr Peter Hemphill said the Arts at Your Doorstep program offers Hobsons Bay residents with the opportunity to enjoy highly respected professional theatre close to home.
“From music, comedy and kids shows, the Arts at your Doorstep program has something for the whole family,” said Cr Hemphill.
“We’re excited to be able to have well known comedian Jude Perl, in July during NAIDOC Week the legendary Kutcha Edwards, and for our younger residents, an afternoon of puppetry and comedy at the Altona Theatre with Bunkasaurus.”
The 2022 Arts at Your Doorstep program kicks off with Participation Award by multi-award-winning singer, songwriter and comedian Jude Perl at 7.30pm on Thursday 19 May at the Williamstown Town Hall.
Perl has created a name for herself by writing and performing hilarious, yet brutally honest, stream-of-consciousness style lyrics set to undeniably catchy and well-crafted songs.
Participation Award, is an entertaining musical comedy exploring bullying and our school system through Jude Perl’s unique brand of song writing.
Renowned Aboriginal singer/songwriter and proud Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta and Nari Nari man, Kutcha Edwards, will take to the stage on Wednesday 6 July, 7.30pm at the Williamstown Town Hall to perform Circling Time.
Arranged in sequences, the show explores Kutcha’s life through the themes of Country, Birth, Youth, Politics, Love, Culture, Healing and Hope.
Next up, Tim Sneddon and Jeff Achtem from Bank Puppets, will have the kids in fits of laugher at Altona Theatre on Wednesday 28 September at 1.00pm.
Their show, Bunkasaurus, is a blend of puppetry and silent comedy, using use DIY puppets from simple materials and household items that aims to inspire and excite young audiences.
