Global law firm Ashurst has advised the State Solicitor’s Office and the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia on two projects as part of the METRONET program of works, which is the biggest infrastructure investment that has ever taken place in Perth.
The $625 million Byford Rail Extension will extend the Armadale Line from Armadale Station approximately 8 km south to a new Byford Station. The MetCONNX Alliance (comprising Laing O’Rourke Australia Construction, Pritchard Francis Consulting and Kellog Brown & Root) will design and construct the new Byford Rail Extension.
The $701 million Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal contract has been awarded to the Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance (comprising ACCIONA Construction, BMD Construction, WSP and AECOM). This project involves the removal of five level crossings and construction of five new elevated stations along the Armadale Line.
Ashurst advised SSO and the Public Transport Authority of WA from project inception, through the Alliance Development phase until contract execution of each Project Alliance Agreement.
Ashurst’s team was led by partner Jennifer Ingram, who was assisted by associate Emma Jamieson.
