Global law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of Maha Osman as partner in the Corporate practice, based in Dubai, as the firm continues to invest in and further expand its private capital practice in the Middle East and international markets.
Maha has a wealth of experience in private capital investments, particularly in the Middle East and Africa. She works extensively with financial sponsors, including private equity investors and sovereign wealth funds, on a broad range of transactions.
“We are very pleased to welcome Maha to Ashurst, as we continue to expand our global private capital capability to meet client demand,” said Simon Rahimzada, Middle East Head of Corporate. “Private capital is a pivotal investment strategy in the Middle East for both regional and international investors and Maha’s arrival perfectly complements our existing areas of strength. Her extensive experience in supporting private capital investment firms and sovereign entities in the UAE/KSA as they invest into Africa also means we are well positioned to drive accelerated growth in this area.”
Middle East Managing Partner David Charlier added: “Maha’s appointment reflects our strategic focus on growing our private capital capabilities and signifies Ashurst’s commitment to investing in its offering in the Middle East. A highly regarded practitioner, Maha’s skill for navigating complex investments across emerging market will be hugely beneficial for our clients. She is a great addition to our corporate team, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Ashurst.”
Maha added, “I am excited to join Ashurst and be part of a firm that is committed to investing in the Middle East. The collaborative culture and the firm’s strategic focus on private capital investments align well with my practice. I look forward to being part of such a highly regarded team and leveraging my experience and relationships to contribute to the continued growth and success of Ashurst’s corporate practice.”
Maha’s appointment is the latest strategic addition to Ashurst’s rapidly expanding Middle East corporate team. The team has continued to go from strength-to-strength, particularly with the recent hires of partner Vasi Papadopoulos in Dubai and local partner Leonid Stoliarski in Riyadh. Additionally, the team has further expanded its reach with the arrival of senior associates Andrew Robinson and Maroun El Hachem and associate Dasith Vathanage, all of whom joined the Dubai office earlier this year.
Maha joins from Freshfields.
