Police have charged a man following the alleged assault, grievous bodily harm and deprivation of liberty of a woman at Broadbeach Waters on Monday night, September 18.
It will be alleged that around 10.00pm, a 26-year-old Southport woman suffering significant head injuries was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital by a 29-year-old man allegedly known to her, where she was placed into an induced coma.
Just after 12.30pm the next day, police were notified and attended the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Shortly after, officers attended a property on Cypress Avenue at Broadbeach Waters, where they arrested a 29-year-old man.
A crime scene was declared at that property, encompassing some nearby roadway.
A secondary crime scene was also declared on the man’s silver 2010 Mitsubishi Lander, located in the Gold Coast University Hospital’s underground car park, which was allegedly used to transport the woman to hospital.
Yesterday, police charged a 29-year-old Broadbeach Waters man with one count each of assault, grievous bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.
He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today.
The woman remains in an induced coma at the Gold Coast University Hospital, in a critical condition.
