About the Authority
The Climate Change Authority is an independent statutory body established to provide expert, evidence-based advice to the Australian Government on climate change. The Authority’s work includes:
- advising on Australia’s climate change targets and progress towards those targets;
- conducting reviews of the Emissions Reduction Fund, ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Greenhouse and Energy Reporting scheme and the Safeguard Mechanism, as well as other requested reviews; and
- undertaking climate change research.
About the Team
The Authority’s Corporate Branch works collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team to provide strategic and operational services and advice across the agency’s finance, procurement, facilitates management and security functions. The branch also maintains the Authority’s corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
The Opportunity
The Assistant Manager, Security & Facilities is the custodian of the Authority’s facilities and security governance, policy and practice and provides strategic and operational advice to Executives and key governance committees on facilities management and protective and physical security matters.
Our ideal candidate
Our ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrated understanding of the PSPF or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the PSPF
- Previous experience and qualifications in protective security, security risk and/or security incident management would be highly desirable; and/or
- Previous experience managing fit-out projects and/or facilities management.
- Highly developed verbal, written and computer communication skills in order to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills with proven ability to build and maintain working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity
- Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.
- Experience in, and/or the ability to quickly acquire an understanding of, key aspects of property management
What you will do
The successful applicant will:
- Manage compliance and assurance within the security governance framework, including the mandatory requirements of the Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the office security plan.
- Assist with the Authority’s planned office fit-out tenancy move.
- Manage property requests and facilities management.
- Identify security risks, undertake security risk assessments relating to physical and personnel security and implement proportionate treatments to mitigate those risks.
- Work under limited direction to draft, interpret, implement and manage policy and procedures for effective protective security in the office.
- Provide proactive and responsive, high quality, customer service focused protective security and property planning, management, assurance and guidance to internal and external stakeholders foster a culture of security awareness.
- Liaison with relevant stakeholders within the agency, external agencies and security agencies on matters relating to CCA security, property and facilities.
- Manage emergency management planning and response – Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan; Fire warden program; Threat and incident management; Reporting and compliance; Education and awareness.
- Manage the Australian Government Property Register (AGPR) Reporting.
Investigate, review and manage cyber security threats, register actions and implement corrective actions in collaboration with the Authority’s shared service provider.
Eligibility and security clearance
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the Authority, applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen or going to be granted Australian Citizenship before commencement. You may be asked to provide evidence of this.
- Undertake a pre-employment security assessment and subsequent security clearance. All staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance however some roles will require a higher level security clearance. If you are offered a role and do not have a current security clearance, we will work with you to arrange for this to be undertaken.
- Be medically fit to undertake the duties of the job.
This position requires a NV1 security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
