A man has been charged after a series of alleged attempted robberies and assault of a 67-year-old woman at Maroochydore this evening.
Around 6.30am, the man approached a woman in a carpark on Dalton Drive. He allegedly attempted to rob her before she raised the alarm and he fled.
He then allegedly attempted to steal a car stopped on Dalton Drive at the intersection of Maroochy Boulevarde.
After failing, the man approached another vehicle on Maroochy Boulevarde at the intersection of Sunrise Drive and allegedly pulled a 67-year-old woman from the driver’s seat, assaulted her and drove off.
She was transported to hospital suffering minor injuries.
Police located the man at a service station at the intersection of Kawana Way and Station Road at Birtinya. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The 30-year-old man has been charged with attempted robbery while using or threatening violence, attempted unlawful entry of a vehicle, unlawful entry of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and while unlicenced.
He was also charged with failing to provide a specimen of blood.
He was denied police bail and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow, December 2.
