Minister for International Education, Ngaree Ah Kit will lead a delegation of industry representatives to the Philippines to promote the Northern Territory as the best destination for students looking to study in Australia.
The three-day education delegation is part of a broader business delegation that has already departed for Vietnam and will move on to Manila, that aims to promote investment, attract both workers and students to the Territory and support the growth of trade relationships.
International education and training injected $169 million into the NT economy in 2021 and attracting more students will play an important role in reaching our $40 billion economy by 2030.
There are almost 3,400 international students studying in the Territory right now, and the Territory Labor Government is working to boost this number through a number of initiatives that assist and support international students – including the construction of the new Charles Darwin University Campus in the city.
The Philippines has been identified as a priority source market for students from overseas.
The education delegation will engage the Government of the Philippines, Manila-based representatives from DFAT and Austrade, international education agents, prospective students and their families, as well as alumni of the Northern Territory, to position us at the top of the list for students from the Philippines.
