Austmine 2019: Early Bird rates closing soon

Austmine 2019: Mining Innovation – The Next Horizon, is the leading mining innovation Conference in the world, according to Austmine Chief Executive Officer, Christine Gibbs Stewart.

Preparations for this year’s Austmine 2019 conference are now in full swing, with the must-attend event just a few short months away.

To be staged at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from May 21-23, 2019 those wishing to attend are being encouraged to register now to take advantage of the Early Bird rate currently on offer and to avoid disappointment.

“Nobody is as sharply focussed on innovation as we are,” Ms. Gibbs Stewart said.

“Austmine 2019 is all about challenging thinking around what innovation means for the mining industry. We’re going to be hearing about some very exciting projects, from key innovation thought leaders of the industry globally.”

Designed specifically for those who are passionate about innovation, working within mining companies, mining equipment, technology and services (METS) companies , and relevant academia and government, the conference brings together all the sectors of the industry, for hands-on workshops, thought-provoking case studies, lively panel discussions, exciting ideas exchanges, networking opportunities and more.

“The level of attendee engagement we always see, and the high degree of interaction between them, is what sets our conference apart.

“With the many challenges facing the mining industry right now, there are a lot of questions out there, about how we can best leverage the technology we have to overcome them, what’s coming next and how will we manage the skills required to truly capitalise on that technology.

“Austmine 2019 will address these issues by starting the critical conversations that need to occur around them, whilst setting the agenda for ongoing discussions beyond our conference and into the everyday operations of the mining industry,” Ms. Gibbs Stewart said

The three-day Austmine 2019 program will open with workshops on 21 May, with the conference then running in parallel to the exhibition on 22-23 May. The networking highlight of the event will be the Austmine Industry Leader’s Dinner and Awards, which will take place on the evening of 22 May.

Austmine 2019 has a great line-up of international speakers for its focus on mining innovation.

Confirmed are Rag Udd (Vice President, Global Transformation, BHP), Natascha Viljoen (Global Head of Processing Operations, Anglo American), Mike Wundenberg (VP Operational Technology and Innovation, Newmont), Marco Orellana (CIO, Codelco), Rob Labbé (Director of Information Security, Teck Resources), Barry Fitzgerald (CEO, Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd), Rafael Estrada (CIO & Manager of Information Systems, Telecommunications and Process Control, Antamina Mining), , John Welborn (Managing Director & CEO, Resolute Mining Limited), and Frans Knox (Head of Production, BMA Coal, BHP), to name just a few of the fantastic speakers.

“We are thrilled to have so many of the world’s premiere thought leaders around innovation confirmed to attend. The presence of so many international participants is an indication of the interest they have in what’s happening in Australia and that they consider Australia instrumental in leading the way when it comes to innovation,” Ms. Gibbs Stewart said.

Austmine 2019 topics to be examined will include the next generation of intelligent equipment, such as the likes of autonomous vehicles, sensors, drilling and AI. Empowering creative thinking in the workplace will be looked at too, as will the use of analytics and data-driven efficiencies, such as the connectivity opportunities through digital streamlining. Finally, the conference will also look at how new technologies will shape the sustainability of the industry moving forward.
