The Australia Council for the Arts is delighted to announce the two new Heads of Practice who will be joining the Sector Development team in May. Zohar Spatz has accepted the role of Head of Community and Experimental and Sarah Greentree has accepted the role of Head of Dance and Multi Arts.

They maintain regular contact with stakeholders and communities of practice and generate vital insights to inform our decisions and future direction.
We are thrilled to welcome Zohar and Sarah to the Development and Strategic Partnerships team – they are both hugely impressive arts leaders who bring with them a wealth of sector expertise”
Incoming Head of Community and Experimental Zohar Spatz said:
“I am passionate about developing artists and audiences, pushing the boundaries of creative and community arts and diversifying the narratives, practices, and voices on our stages. In this role with the Australia Council I hope to increase the visibility of community and experimental arts.”
Zohar Spatz joins the Australia Council after three years as CEO/Executive Director of La Boite Theatre Company, Australia’s longest continuously running theatre company. Zohar has twenty years’ experience in the not-for-profit arts. She was formerly on the board of All The Queens Men (ATQM) as well as being an inaugural leader of the Obama Foundation: Asia Pacific, a growing global network of emerging international leaders from private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Previous roles include, Festival Director at Horizon Festival, Executive Producer of Australian Performing Arts Market, Producer of the World Theatre Festival as well as Operation Manager of Australia’s leading cultural exchange program, Garma and The Dreaming Festival.
Incoming Head of Dance and Multi Arts Sarah Greentree said:
“I’m excited to be joining the Australia Council and look forward to working to build the knowledge and evidence base for dance and multi arts, helping to inform advocacy and effect positive change.”
Sarah Greentree brings 20 years of industry experience across multiple artforms, including as a producer supporting independent theatre, dance and music artists. Sarah has worked within theatre, dance, visual art and music organisations including Lucy Guerin Inc., The Wheeler Centre and Performing Lines. She has held executive positions at Black Arm Band, Chunky Move and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and, from 2020, was the Executive Director of Australia’s longest running First Nations theatre company, Ilbijerri Theatre.
