Concerned about the lack of help for people with a ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan and their family, My Plan Helper set about creating ways to support people. An online course without tests or homework seemed to be the most accessible way to get the information to the people who need it most. My Plan Helper can create other ways to deliver the course if a person doesn’t have internet or has accessibility needs that aren’t met. My Plan Helper believes this first course, Understanding NDIS Plans, is Australia’s first course designed for people who use or support others with the NDIS.
This service is a South Australian success story. It was created with the support and assistance of a range of SA small businesses who all contributed in some way from graphic design to providing input. That doesn’t mean that My Plan Helper doesn’t think about the needs in other states as well as remote and rural NDIS participants.
Founder of My Plan Helper, Irene Hamilton who lived in Far West NSW for several years, has considered people living regionally and remotely when creating the online course.
“If people in the city who have access to lots of services find it difficult to get help with the NDIS, well how are people in regional and remote areas coping?”
“Many people around the country haven’t used their NDIS funding because they just haven’t known how to as it is over-whelming for some. This course is designed for everyone.”
With over 30 years’ experience in the community sector, Irene intends to develop a range of courses to assist people with the NDIS as well as My Aged Care services and
