World Rugby has confirmed Australian referee Amber Maclachlan as the match official who will take charge of the final 2022 World Cup Qualification match in Dubai later this
month.

Maclachlan, who made her international debut in Samoa in 2019 has since become a regular official within the women’s game, recently taking charge of England’s 66-7 defeat of Wales during the Women’s Six Nations campaign as well as countless Buildcorp Super W matches.

Hosted at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai, the Final Qualification match which Maclachlan will take charge of will decide which women’s XVs team takes the last remaining spot at Rugby World Cup 2021, which kicks off in New Zealand in early October.

MacLachlan is looking to use the match to build on her previous experience of officiating during the Women’s Six Nations and Pacific Four Series, among other international fixtures, as she seeks out a position on the match official team for the
upcoming World Cup.

Alhambra Nievas, World Rugby Referee Talent Development Manager, said: “We would like to congratulate Amber, Kat, Shanda and Ian for their selection to the Final Qualification Tournament for Rugby World Cup 2021.

“This is a pivotal tournament on the journey to Rugby World Cup 2021 for both players and match officials alike. As well as the upcoming Six Nations, the Final Qualification
Tournament provides a great opportunity for these officials to build on their preparation for Rugby World Cup 2021 as they look to earn their selection for the pinnacle event in women’s 15s rugby.”
