Australian premiere of Gucci Garden Archetypes coming to Powerhouse

NSW Government

The exclusive Australian premiere of the immersive multimedia exhibition Gucci Garden Archetypes will be presented at Powerhouse Ultimo from 17 November.

Supported by the NSW Government’s Blockbuster Funding Initiative, the major international exhibition brings to life iconic, maximalist campaigns by virtuosic Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele during his six-year tenure at the helm of the Italian fashion luxury house.

Minister for Tourism and the Arts Ben Franklin said that this free, world-class exhibition will be a major cultural attraction.

“Alessandro Michele is a world-leading creative talent and Gucci Garden Archetypes will offer locals and visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in his creative world,” he said.

“The NSW Government is proud to support this incredible international exhibition exclusively in Sydney at our iconic Powerhouse museum. Securing major exhibitions like this confirms NSW as a global cultural hub, and strengthens NSW’s reputation for excellence in arts and culture.”

The Gucci Garden Archetypes exhibition features iconic Gucci campaigns. Design studio Archivio Personale has transformed Michele’s creative manifesto into cinematic multimedia installations that express his distinctive vision, aesthetic and inspirations from music, art, travel and pop culture.

Powerhouse Chief Executive Lisa Havilah said Powerhouse is thrilled to partner with Gucci to present the exclusive Australian premiere of Gucci Garden Archetypes.

“Alessandro Michele never fails to push us forward into diverse, contemporary visual worlds that we have yet to imagine. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the Powerhouse museum for this very unique and special experience,” Ms Havilah said.
