The Australian Retailers Association (ARA) is proud to announce an extension of its strategic partnership with Good360 Australia – a leading charity supporting communities in need through the redistribution of surplus retail stock.
Good360 Australia has been a partner to the ARA since June 2021 and has supported the ARA in its sustainability efforts across the retail sector whilst also making a positive social impact across Australia.
ARA Chief Industry Affairs Officer Fleur Brown said that Good360 Australia shares the ARA’s commitment to a more sustainable future, providing smart solutions that help retailers reduce waste and make a difference to the community.
“The ARA has long championed responsible retailing and sustainable business practices,” said Ms Brown.
“Our partnership with Good360 Australia has already created meaningful connections between retailers and charities, allowing retail businesses to redirect unsold goods to community organisations supporting people in need across Australia.
“With $2.5 billion worth of unsold household goods wasted or sent to landfill each year, it’s vital we move towards a model where these items are reused or donated rather than going to waste.
“Good360’s mission to minimise waste and give value to surplus goods aligns with the ARA’s vision for retail,” said Ms Brown.
The announcement of the renewed partnership will also see the ARA and Good360 collaborate again on Everyone Day in 2025 – Good360 Australia’s annual fundraising event.
The campaign provides an opportunity for Good360 Australia to capture donations from generous retailers and individuals across the country, with every $1 raised helping Good360 deliver $20 worth of unsold, new goods to people in need.
Founder and Managing Director of Good360 Australia Alison Covington AM said that this extended partnership has come at a crucial time for the retail sector.
“Communities across Australia are facing record demand for essential goods, and we are proud to be partnering with the ARA to meet this need while unlocking the incredible potential within the retail sector to improve sustainability,” said Ms Covington.
“Together, we have the opportunity to reduce the staggering volume of unsold goods that go to waste each year and transform it into positive impact for both the community and the environment.
“This partnership is about supporting and enabling retailers to embrace sustainable practices that reduce waste and help lower costs.
“By working together, we can pave the way for a more sustainable retail model that supports people in need while strengthening ESG outcomes and enhance efficiency across the sector,” said Ms Covington.
“The ARA is proud to support Good360 and EveryOne Day, which not only contributes to a more sustainable future for the retail sector but also strengthens the resilience of our communities,” said Ms Brown.
