Author Maya Linnell returns with fourth novel

Bestselling author Maya Linnell will return to Mount Gambier Library on Tuesday 21 June 2022 at 7:00pm for the launch of her fourth book, Paperbark Hill.

Paperbark Hill is the fourth and final novel in the McIntyre Sister’s series for the former Limestone Coast journalist turned rural romance author. Her three prior novels have all been voted into the ‘Better Reading Top 100’ and made their way onto bestseller lists.

“Maya has drawn on her own love of gardening and baking to bring you yet another fabulous novel that will appeal to anyone who enjoys a great family saga,” Team Leader Library Programs Kristi Brooks said.

Paperbark Hill tells the story of Diana McIntyre and her dream of starting a flower farm as well as dealing with four boisterous boys, one of who is destined to be a future cricket star.

Set in the western districts of the Grampian’s mountain range, readers are also introduced to locum pharmacist and single dad, Ned Gardiner, who hasn’t called Victoria home in years. However, he returns to the district after the death of his father to keep the family egg farm running.

“Diana and Ned are brought together and a strong connection is established – but this isn’t just a romance book. It deals with deep, complex family issues including grief, healing, addiction and loss,” Ms Brooks said.

“While we have the familiar characters from the previous books, Paperbark Hill stands on its own and you don’t need to have read the previous three novels.”

The in-conversation author event will discuss everything close to the author’s heart including family, writing, baking and gardening and explores how Maya has become the host of the Libby OverDrive online monthly show called ‘Library Lovers with Maya Linnell’.

The event is free with refreshments provided and books available for sale. Bookings are required and can be made by contacting Mount Gambier Library on 8721 2540 or book online at under ‘Programs and Events’.
