Western Australians are encouraged to enjoy their holidays with genuine licensed tourism operators amid a rise in reports of unlicensed rogue operators which could pose a risk to customer safety.
Tourism Council WA has received reports from across the tourism industry of an increase in the number of rogue businesses operating tours without transport or national park licences.
“These reports raise real concerns about customer safety, quality service and the environmental protection of our national parks,” Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said.
“These rogue operators may not have valid insurance, vehicle safety checks or apply environmental standards to protect our natural assets.”
The simplest way to ensure you are dealing with a genuine tourism business is to look for the Quality Tourism Accredited Business logo.
“The Quality Tourism Accredited Business logo means the business’ licences and public liability insurance have been independently verified,” Mr Hall said.
