There are still several roads across Ballina Shire with water over road, and road closures. Due to access and safety restrictions Ballina Shire Council staff cannot inspect and signpost all roads.
Information on roads which have been inspected is available online at .
Although the rain has eased, we are likely to see further tidal inundation of roads and land over the coming days as flood water travels down from the Richmond River. Drive to conditions, and if it’s flooded forget it!
The Pacific Highway is open in both directions. Ross Lane and the Cumbalum Interchange remain closed.
Residents are urged to continue avoiding non-essential travel as high winds and wet soil can cause landslips and falling trees.
The Burns Point Ferry remains CLOSED. Council is waiting for river conditions to improve before completing essential repair works. We anticipate the ferry will be back online mid to late next week.
POTHOLES
The recent weather has caused numerous potholes on local roads. Motorists are urged to drive carefully with these conditions in mind, and where possible avoid road hazards. Council crews will continue working to repair potholes and road surfaces over the coming weeks. You can report major potholes online via Council’s Community Portal at .
EVACUATION CENTRE
The Evacuation Centre at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre will close from today.
