Bayside Upcycling Challenge 2024

Bayside Council residents are invited to get creative, embrace sustainability and take up the Upcycling Challenge by transforming old items into functional, upcycled pieces.

The Upcycling Challenge is designed to help promote awareness around waste avoidance and encourage upcycling.

Bayside Council is running the Upcycling Challenge in support of Planet Ark’s ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Recycling Week, a nationwide awareness initiative in Australia which runs from 11- 17 November 2024.

Participants can enter one of four categories, Most Creative (13 and over), Most Practical (13 and over), 12 and Under (individual), and 12 and Under (Schools).

Entries will be judged on creativity, functionality and innovation by a panel of three industry professionals with expertise in design, sustainability and craftsmanship.

The winner of the 12 and Under (Schools) category will get to choose an item worth up to $400 from the Compost Revolution catalogue, with Council providing onsite setup assistance.

Winners in the other categories will receive a $200 ClassBento gift voucher.

ClassBento is an online platform that connects people with creative, hands-on workshops run by local artisans and experts. These workshops offer sustainable experiences in arts, crafts, cooking, and wellness, supporting local communities and promoting eco-friendly practices.
