Casey’s newest open space project, Bayview Park featuring the 1001 steps fitness and walking track, was officially opened today. Inspired by the popular 1,000 Steps, Bayview Park in Narre Warren North is the City of Casey’s own public parkland and healthy lifestyle experience.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon officially opened the park this morning and told those present that she felt privileged and proud to lead the community in celebrating the exciting event.
“Council has invested over $800,000 to transform this former landfill site into a beautiful fitness and walking track which provides sweeping views across Casey, Western Port and Port Phillip Bay.
“This attraction – including the carpark – is designed to be suitable for most fitness levels and abilities. So, whether you’re up for a physical challenge, or just want to take the dog for a leisurely stroll, Bayview Park caters to a wide variety of uses and needs,” she said.
“An initiative by Cr Rosalie Crestani, supported by Ward Councillor Milla Gilic and the whole Council, it is hoped that this facility will become a destination for locals and tourists alike.
“This is the first stage of the Steps project with some other innovative and fun additions to come, and it is just the start of the transformation of Bayview Park as a whole.”
Council are currently working on a master plan for the site to guide additional improvements and developments. There will be further opportunities for Casey residents to have their say about more enhancements to the public park in the future.
