The sand nourishment work along Lady Robinson Beach at Kyeemagh, Brighton Le Sands, Ramsgate, and Dolls Point is now complete.
The project involved the transportation of sand from Kyeemagh to Brighton Le Sands and Dolls Point to Ramsgate via trucks.
Council carefully planned the projects to have minimal impact on the community and to ensure public safety small sections of the beach were closed. The project was undertaken to address immediate issues with beach erosion in the area and protect the foreshore while a long-term beach management plan is being finalised.
Council received some funding from the NSW Government for the project.
Mayor Edward McDougall said
“I would like to thank the public for their patience during this major project to protect our beautiful foreshore,” Mayor Edward McDougall said.
“Council is working on a long-term management plan that will help us plan for ongoing issues caused by climate change as well as problems caused by the expansion the airport and port.”
